How to Install Bearings Correctly

Proper installation is the first step to ensuring a long bearing life. Even the best quality bearings can fail early if installed incorrectly. Here are five simple tips for correct bearing installation:

1.Keep Everything Clean: Before installation, clean the shaft and housing. Avoid touching the bearing surfaces with bare hands to prevent rust.

2.Apply Force to the Right Ring: When installing, always apply pressure to the ring that fits tightly. If the inner ring fits tightly, press on the inner ring; if the outer ring fits tightly, press on the outer ring. Never hit the rolling balls directly.

3.Avoid Hammering Directly: Do not use a hammer to hit the bearing directly. Use a proper installation sleeve or a press machine to ensure even pressure.

4.Check the Direction: Some bearings have seals or dust covers. Make sure the sealed side faces the correct direction, usually facing the lubricant or the outside.

5.Test the Rotation: After installation, rotate the shaft by hand to check if it spins smoothly without noise or sticking.
